The teacher's day ... / El dia del maestrop

I am going to tell you about the teacher's day of 6th of jul (but celebrated the 5th).

Before starting with this celebration, I'd like to talk about how surprised I am of the frequency of celebrations in Peru. I have the feeling that every that every single day is an opportunity to celebrate something ... and not to give classes in publics schools ... For exemple, last week the children hosted with us in the center didn t have school on thursday and friday ... The question is  WHY? After a small investigation, asdking children, director of the asociation, the cook ... we had 3 differents answers (for exemple : "it might be the day we celebrate the Pope...")and none was sure of his anszer. Finally, I learned that it was the days of the fisher mens (followed in the week end by the day of ceviche, tipical plate made with fish).

Finally, to get to the point ... On thursday the 4th, we received an invitation from the municipality of Vista Alegre to have a lunch with the other teachers of the city, to honour our work (there was also a ceremoni at the church earlier but we had to be working as you will understand ...). Although it is not our profesion in Europe, it is oine of our main task here in the asociation !

So, on Friday the 5th, we gave clases till 11 o'clock before to join, with all the teacher of the school, the city center in the town hall. There, we could listen to testimonies of teachers  and greetings of people working in the municipality ...At the bend we song the hymn of the teacher ... The main mesage of this celeration was to remember about the responsabilty teachers have in the development of the countru and I also understood that it was a way to recognise the work of the teacher although it is a hard work with few incomes (and with outcomes to give clases , for furnitures or copies for exemple ...).

After this "axademic" celebration, we joined another place. I was very surprised because although we were invited for a lunch, there was no table but only chairs in front a scene full of music instruments of the band and and of gifts (blinders, microwacve, electric pot to cool rice, ... )of the tombola.

A man was in charge of the animation. After we got our ticket, the tommbola started for a little while ... In the same time, we received our lunch (chicharon with cooked corn) to eat on the knees ... not very easy ! Then we received Coke and Inka Cola and for the one who wanted, Pisco as a digestive drink. 

After that the party got started, we put all the chairs on the sides of the place and were sirved beers and invited to dance the whole afternoon (sometimes they would stop the music to go one with the tombola ... ).

I had to leave befor 5 pm becaue I had to give french class but the party was n t over ... how manyu beers and dances to celebrate the day of the teacher ... ?

Sunday was the day of friendship ... what are we going to celebrate the nexts weeks ..?
