Hong Kong trip

Posted on by Amel and Norman

Deep breath, it’s time to go outside the Mainland

Before our departure to Beijing, we get a multiple entries visa for 6 months in China but each stamp is valid for 90 days. Consequently we had to go out to the mainland and our destination was Hong Kong

Deep breath in the aircraft when the flight was late because of the smog in Beijing and before our arrival when turbulences scared the half of travelers.

Finaly we arrived in one piece, everybody speak english, it's enjoyable to be understood by people and be helped when we were looking for a place.

The melting pot in the city is incredible, Indians, Pakistanis, Africans, Chinese are neighbors and lot of tourists from everywhere went in this city… Hong kong is a big commercial place, for shopping if you’re rich it’s the place to be. Luxury brand are common in this area and you have plenty of shops to buy expansive things or fake things.

Deep breath when we discovered the city during the night, it's interresting to see the lights from the banks like you can see on the picture. Victoria Peak is recommended to have a complete view of central and north island.

Deep breath during the Typhoon time : During these three days, a typhoon stayed with us. Not a big one but enough powerful to abort few plans.

I (Norman) go to lamma island to see landscapes, taste the fresh air. I knew the typhoon was expected around 4pm. It’s the last time I trust a tourism office for the forecast, the first couple hours was very nice, Seeing the nature, the sea, the hills refreshed my mind… See the storm coming (2pm) and ran like hell to catch the next ferry, be able to see the track only 2 meters ahead and be completely wet is less fun !

Deep breath in lantau Island, we saw the big Buddha, it’s not an old high monument it was built in 1994. People prays a lot all around the place. There are too many things to visit here and it was impossible to see all ! However, we took a boat to visit the natural river and places around the island. We discovered “chinese pizza” for lunch and have a good time in the cooker's house even if they didn't speak english. They are nice persons for sure and seeing nice persons is a deep breath
