First week in Beijing
Monday 6th May, 5.30 am, my heart raced. Yes, I am, I’m in Beijing. I passed the border, I just brought my luggages and I saw Lou Han who was welcoming me. Excited for this new experience. We went to welcome Amel at an other arrival. Outside the airport, fumes, opaque air. After we picked up Gabriele and Letizia (Italians), We took a taxi, we discovered our flat and we get some rest. One tought in my mind. Tomorrow we begin EVS. it will be a great adventure for the next 6 months
On Tuesday after to be welcomed, we introduced ourselves to the director and other workers for Cango.
I'm Norman, french volunteer who just finished his studies in international environmental law. I’m very interested by environmental stakes
On the afternoon, we attended a conference about climate change, environmental issues, low carbon lifestyles. Great !
Most of participants have worked on a topic and made a report about it. Lot of subjects were broached. All of them have different skills and their reports completed each other.
On Wednesday we could see a project directed by CANGO. China is one of the countries in the world that is seriously confronted with the problems of desertification. The Inner Mongolia region of China is dry, flat and dusty. Desertification is still progressing fast. It was very difficult for local people to cultivate and to live.
Lot of people is leaving rural areas and goes to Beijing. It’s a problem because if more and more people goes to Beijing, the capital will need more and more energy and the pollution will be increase despite of the efforts. Moreover, husbandry and harvest production decrease.
I'm very interested by Cango's actions. That's why I want to participate in Cango's projects.
