Step by Step
How working in China ? Good question ! After 2 months in Cango,my answer is "step by step"
First step, it's necessary to be interested on the different topics. Consequently, you have to show your motivation by asking questions about those topics… Even if at beginning you read reports (a lot) it's usefull to understand more the stakes and the projets...
You ask questions and questions again, show to your colleagues, you are interested in. And this is the point to start few activities.. Once, someone ask to you for something. It could be easy and quick, It could be photocopy, read a report and explain what do you think about this.
Respect is important, a polite way, what are you working on? May I help you, insist with smile for helping… show your motivation.
I could be easy, explain like this but it's not. it's not our culture, Even if we have a master, accept simple tasks is a proof of your will. They trust in your motivation. Over time, they use your skills.
Don’t hesitate to propose your help ! Again, and again, politely, follow what they are doing, the topics, the projects
For example, During the first month, I did these above activities. After I wrote reports about meetings for the newsletters, helped them about projects to clarify few topics, Give my hand for some materials.
Since around two weeks I’m supporting my colleagues on an environmental education project. I add few things about how environmental education works in France, give few ideas. After done a synopsis I’m working more deeply and I can use my knowledge
I’m still attending to conferences, support them (record a meeting for once because no people could do it), They like positive attitude and more you help them and participate to activities, more they trust you and give you more responsibilities..
It could be difficult or hard sometimes, but it is worth and necessary to be included and start doing what you would like to do and be an actor
I’m still working on about environmental education. After this, I have some ideas on other projects linked to environment and climate change...
To be continued…
