Work in Cango & co

Posted on by Capucine

Hi everybody !

Today I would like to talk to you about my work with CANGO.

At the very beginning I was only working for Zigen, a partner association of CANGO (http://www.zigen.org for those who want to take a look). They deal with migrant workers and rural development. I’m supposed to help them about their fund raising activities, but the thing is nobody speak english in Zigen office, and since I don’t speak chinese, it’s quite difficult to work. Everything is going so slowly because of the language barrier, but I hope, with some patience, it will be easier to understand each other and work all together.

More recently Shanshan (our coordinator in CANGO) introduces me to Sunny who manage the Shaliwen association (http://www.shaliwen.net), dealing with deaf children. Here I’m gonna work on 3 differents issues. First of all I will try to improve their website which is so empty right now. Doing a french page or developing the page about children could be great. Secondly Shaliwen needs a newsletter, so maybe I could help Sunny to create one. And finally, Sunny really needs long term volunteers to help her, cause she’s all alone to manage the whole organization ; so I will write an EVS application to try to send her one or two french volunteers.

This part is really challenging to me. I never did that kind of thing before, but it will be so interesting to do. And I hope it will be successful. Sunny has so much energy and Shaliwen children are so nice that it would be a shame to not help them.

Yesterday Shanshan explained me that, since my work in Zigen still not really evolving, I could work with a third association called Huiling (http://www.huiling.org.cn/en/). I don’t know much about it, except I will visit it next week. In my next article I will let you know how it goes.

Have a good week end !

Capucine
