Happy Mother Day

Time flies away very quickly here. It is good because we are never bored, there is always much to do but it also means iot is harder to write an article in time! Yes, I want to talk about the mother day in Peru, El dia de la madre.

I still have difficulties to estimate how important it is here because of all the commercial side you can see around, but still I feel like it has more importance than in Europe or at least France.

The mother day occured about a week ago. Sunday, you could see everywhere in Nasca, people with the "Feliz dia de la madre" baloon. You could also meet processions celebrating The Mother Maria. Also, plaza bolognesi we saw a huge tombola (maybe here also because it was the turistic week in Nasca).

Anyway, we, volunteers and teacher couldn t miss this day, although we are all far away from our moms. It had been more than one month that we prepared a show with our students in order to impress the parents, and let the children share their love in other langage than castellano! To be honest, everything we did wasn t about mother or love, because, although you might not believe me, it is not that easy to find the song or the poem that would fit to you and your children.

Nevertheless, it was for us the first occasion to show our work to the parents, so mucho stress.

The D-Day (2 days before the mother day), the parents were invited to arrive at 4 30 pm in order to let the show begin at 5. We were expecting them to arrive much later (we thought punctuality wasn t the first asset of peruvian people)., but they were more or less in time and the show could start for about 2 hours. It wasn t perfect, some parents couldn t listen weel their children, some of our students were to impressed to let their creativity show up, but it was a really nice time to share.

I was really proud of the work we ve done with my students, althought they are, for the oldest, 4 years old, they all show what we ve learned together!
